“He was a locomotive. One track mind toward the riches. His mind was a steam engine, not yet upgraded to a coal-powered heart. All he knew how to do was pick them up at one station and drop them off at the next. His momentum was too great, so when he finally decided to slow down he missed the entire station and she caught a car sent specifically for her, a car whose final destination was her. A car sent by a man who saw her while on a slow walk one evening.” —Joseph Cook

“So many people glorify and romanticize “busy”. I do not. I value purpose. I believe in resting in reason and moving in passion. If you’re always busy/moving, you will miss important details. I like the mountain. Still, but when it moves lands shift and earth quakes.” —Joseph Cook

The more I observe the more I realize that we can argue until we’re blue in the face about what this celebrity should or shouldn’t be doing or how their actions influences the children and how it’s so and so responsibility to put out a positive message, but it is nobody’s responsibility to positively influence your children. Society is not responsible for raising your child. If you are worried about the types of messages your child or children may receive, then worry about how you could fortify your child against such messages and influences.

I miss her. But my desire to not be in a long-distant relationship is bigger than the feelings of missing her. I miss her. But my desire to not have to schedule affections is bigger than the feelings of missing her. As I write this, I feel my heart tearing down these reasons that my brain has built. I feel the longing for her growing stronger.

Yet.

I know that in this moment, I feel such a way and another moment I will not. So I will be still and prevent any collateral damage.

“We mistake sex for romance. Guys are taught that pushing a girl up against a wall is romance. Sex is easy; you can do it with anyone, yourself, with batteries. Romance is when someone you like walks into a room and they take your breath away. Romance is when two people are dancing and they fit together perfectly. Romance is when two people are walking next to each other and all of a sudden they find themselves holding hands, and they don’t know how that happened.” —John C. Moffi  (via thewastedgeneration)

“the women in your music
are weeping.
you talk about their “pussy”
they feel their black split.
you use your words to lick them
they lose their legs to fire.
you build them houses with cash bricks
and
tyranny
they make happiness from the spit off of your songs.
you use their hope and their skin
to
build an empire
and
tell them they should be grateful
you remember their face.”

man scrolling through tumblr sees a feminist rant about hating men

theroguefeminist:

plot twist: the man thinks, ah, she is simply expressing her frustration as a member of an oppressed group, whilst hating the construction of masculinity that was designed to keep her down, not necessarily all individual men such as myself…this is absolutely not the same thing as sexism and not a personal attack on me *keeps scrolling*

“I’m convinced that Sensationalism in the music industry is just the new gimmick to make money off of a trend just as auto-tune, Uncle Luke booty popping music, Lil Jon crunk music, White-T Boys, D4L, and Soulja Boy dance songs, and any other music gimmick that was used for a certain number of years. Watch, in the next few years, talk of Illuminati-esque themes and its sensationalists marketing ploys will be a long forgotten thing of the past just as the things I mentioned above.” —Joseph Cook

“I’m not sad, but the boys who are looking for sad girls always find me. I’m not a girl any more and I’m not sad any more. You want me to be a tragic backdrop so that you can appear to be illuminated, so that people can say ‘Wow, isn’t he so terribly brave to love a girl who is so obviously sad?’ You think I’ll be the dark sky so you can be the star? I’ll swallow you whole.” — Warsan Shire (via ianthe)
